HYVE, by Herbst Design, is a modular, interlocking system created to house all of life's little things. Scot Herbst, of Herbst Design, reached out to SBD to help create the identity and visual language for HYVE. The HYVE logo plays homage to the HYVE and honeybee hive shape. The font selected is bold, yet has a friendly, easy feel by the rounded corners. The Y in HYVE is striped, playing off the stripes on a bee as well as paying attention to the special spelling of the word. The word is contained within the shape for an organized, structured feel - similar to how HYVE created organization out of life's little bits of chaos.
Because the honeybee was such a critical source of design inspiration, we are donating a percentage of HYVE proceeds to research at the San Francisco based Pollinator Partnership.
